The State of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in the Canadian Magazine Industry

If you haven’t had a chance yet, this week is the last opportunity to share your perspective and insights about diversity, equity and inclusion in our industry. We’re looking to hear from publishers, magazine staff, interns and members of the freelance community.

The survey is available in English and French and will take about 15 minutes to complete – time well spent to support the advancement of diversity in the magazine publishing sector. Please complete and share the survey link with your staff and colleagues in the magazine industry.

The goal of the survey is to gather information on:

(i) how diverse and inclusive magazine organizations and the magazine industry are;

(ii) the challenges that magazine organizations face in becoming more diverse, inclusive and equitable;

(iii) the strategies that organizations have implemented to become more diverse, inclusive and equitable and to ensure that content represents diverse voices and perspectives.

The findings of the survey will be used to determine strategies that will contribute to a more diverse and inclusive magazine industry. Survey research results will be distributed by summer 2021. Sign up here to receive a copy of the report.

This survey is a joint undertaking by Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA) and the Magazine Association of BC with support from the Government of Canada and Creative BC.

If you have any questions or need assistance completing the survey, please contact: Suzanne Trudel, executive director, Alberta Magazine Publishers Association at director@albertamagazines.com or 403-650-2771.

Thank you for participating. We appreciate your feedback!
