Oct. 24, 2022 (Calgary, Alberta). Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA) is pleased to announce that eMagazine titles from across the province will now be available to library patrons across Alberta.
Alberta’s magazine publishing industry has joined forces with the province’s book publishers to expand the Read Alberta eBooks project, launched in 2017, to include digital editions of dozens of the province’s world-class magazines.
The Read Alberta Collection now includes 42 diverse eMagazine titles, in addition to the existing digital collection of more than 2,000 Alberta-published eBooks.
The project has grown through a partnership between AMPA and the Public Library Services Branch (PLSB) of Alberta Municipal Affairs. With an initial investment of $50,000, this expansion will increase readers’ access to a broader range of Alberta-created content.
The project officially launches at public libraries across Alberta on Oct. 24, 2022. Library patrons will be able to borrow eMagazines covering a diverse range of topics including lifestyle, sports and leisure, crafting, current affairs, cities and regions, literary arts, food and drink, and special interest titles.
The Read Alberta eMagazine public library collection marks an important collaboration between AMPA and the Government of Alberta. The ongoing investment in the growth of the collection over the coming years will benefit Albertans, magazine publishers, libraries, educators and will support an important economic contributor in the province.
