During this extraordinary time AMPA recognizes the pressures on the industry are extreme. The association continues to monitor the situation and advocate for our members and the sector along with our regional and national colleagues.

Support for Businesses and Individuals

• Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan
• Federal support for Canadian businesses – including temporary wage subsidy for employers
  Federal support for individuals and self-employed individuals
• Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) has been extended.
• Department of Canadian Heritage – Canada Periodical Fund
  AID to Publishers recipients will see expedited 2020 contribution amounts
• Government of Alberta – Support for Albertans and Employers
• Canada Council
  Canada Council magazines who currently receive core funding will receive a 35% advance payment on 2020-21 core grants

• Canadian Federation of Independant Business (CFIB) help centre
• The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has created the Canadian Business Resilience Network
• Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) applicants now have until Dec. 31, 2020 to apply. Support will be expanded from $40K to $60K. https://ceba-cuec.ca/
• The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)  has been replaced with new Employment Insurance benefits (EI) program. Additional benefits are available for those who do not qualify for EI.
• The Alberta Business Link provides advice on a wide range of supports for small businesses affected by COVID, including crisis recovery, government supports, and mental health resources.  https://businesslink.ca/

• New grant available for Alberta small businesses
