Don is a versatile Edmonton-based writer and editor, operating as goodwriter.ca. He is an experienced researcher, interviewer and storyteller, with a knack for capturing illustrative quotes or insights.
Don is readily available for assignments with Alberta-based magazines and publications, covering any subject matter. On the Alberta scene, Don has contributed to OHS Magazine, Alberta Venture, The PEG, Alberta Construction News, and others. He has also contributed to a range of corporate publications and internal newsletters, such as ATCO’s FUEL and EPCOR’s Essential Spirit.
Don was the original editor of the HANDI-GUIDE to Alberta’s OH & S Act, Regulation and Code (First Edition) and the ZERO Injuries Handbook. He also edited the Focus on Safety newsletter for many years, plus the two-volume Guide to Environmental Compliance in Alberta. He now authors Thomson Reuters’ series of HANDI-GUIDES, including editions for AB, BC, SK, MB, Atlantic Canada and Federally Regulated Workplaces. In addition, Don is the editor of Thomson Reuters’ TDG Pocket Guide and WHMIS Pocket Guide.
Don has written for a wide range of clients on diverse topics, including aspects of corporate responsibility, science and research, business profiles, workplace health and safety, workplace wellness, construction/engineering, physical activity and active living, workers’ compensation, WHMIS, TDG, and environmental compliance.
Don’s past work experience also includes five years as editor of WellSpring and Research Update, published by the Alberta Centre for Active Living. He also wrote dozens of articles for the former Healthy U website, including workplace, school and community profiles.
