2023-2024

Judges assess entries for graphic elements and cover line content, that they reinforce each other through literal or subtextual means, as well as overall creativity.

Any single magazine cover can be entered. This category is judged on the creative synergy between imagery and textual elements.

Gold Award

Tiny Things is a perfect cover, brilliantly conceived and executed. It’s simple, direct, and wonderfully detailed.

Silver Award

This is a fun, engaging cover, and the artwork is representative of the best political cartooning. Alberta Views gets extra points for being the only magazine besides MAD to show someone throwing up on a cover. The detailing, type, colour, and layout are also spot on.

The type on the Conservation Issue cover is simple and restrained, letting the brilliant, powerful image jump off the page. The light touches of colour are also well executed. The result is so memorable the image should be framed and displayed on a wall.
