I have lived experience of mental health concerns and over 25 years of full recovery from my illness. I have published an article in Alberta Views which was nominated for an award from The Alberta Magazine Publishers Association. I love to write about not only my own experiences, but anything that helps impact the lives of our most vulnerable. I am an executive member of my local Toastmasters Club, and I also work for The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, giving presentations to different groups, including high schools, universities, and the Edmonton Police Recruit Classes. I have over 60 published articles to my credit and 12 published books, three of which are about my mental health recovery. I currently teach poetry in Edmonton Hospital psychiatric wards, through a position as a research assistant with The University of Alberta, Augustana Campus.
