Katharyn Sotvedt

I studied at Royal Roads University for my Bachelor’s in Professional Communications and graduated this summer in 2022. I also have my Diploma in Photojournalism and a Certificate in Photography from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). I worked as a Communications Intern at the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR) and interned at Where Canadian Rockies Magazine as a photojournalist.

With multiple internships under my belt, I have been given the opportunity to learn in different work environments, which has taught me about different positions in the communication and media field. I am proficient with multiple media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. I have experience with media outreach, media kits, email templates, infographics, and creating promotional stories.

I am proficient in professional camera models, including Canon, Sony, and Nikon. I’m also proficient in photo lighting and setup for photoshoots and videos and knowledgeable in different ranges of lenses. I have a wide range of photo editing skills with Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe programs and Photo Mechanic.

I am reliable and capable in fast-paced environments and always deliver my results on time. I have been featured in Where Canadian Rockies winter issues in 2020 and 2021 and Mountain Real Estate issues in March and April 2020. I am highly organized and pride myself on being extremely attentive to detail, with an eye for presentation, which you can see in the website I created and designed for my freelancing business and portfolio.
