Researchers from Simon Fraser University are conducting a survey on the consequences of Bill C-18 on journalism.
The survey is a part of a research project comparing emerging regulations, such as the Australian News Media Bargaining Code (2021) and Canadian Online News Act (2023), that aim to address the imbalances between digital platforms and news publishers, and their consequences for journalism. This project is funded by the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Grant (Project No. 435-2025-0325) and conducted by the Digital Content & Platform Governance Lab at the School of Communication, Simon Fraser University.
The survey takes approximately 15- 20 minutes to complete and is available in English & French. The results of the survey will be used exclusively for scholarly purposes, including policy reports, academic articles and book chapters, and not sold or passed onto third parties. An executive summary of the key findings from this survey will be shared with respondents if they share their contact information at the end of the survey. Participation is voluntary, and responses will remain confidential.
