Summarize the magazine’s achievements during the past year and how it has served the needs of its readers
With each issue, the ATA Magazine endeavours to include a mix of three main elements: how-to information that teachers can use in their practice, content that fosters a sense of community among teachers, and high-level ideas that get teachers thinking of big-picture issues within public education.

In 2024, the ATA Magazine included the following feature packages:
1) Take it outside (the norm): teaching in a unconventional setting can be a highly rewarding adventure
2) The loud and the quiet … and everyone in between: Extroverts and introverts bring different strengths to our classrooms and schools
3) We are here! Standing strong for gender inclusion

Each of these features was unique, providing a perspective that members of the teaching profession (and the public) could not have found in any other publication.

This last feature (We are here!) included stories and information supporting gender and sexual minorities and was published just as the provincial government was announcing legislation that restricted the rights of these individuals. The social media posts that shared our magazine content were widely shared and generated a groundswell of gratitude from both teachers and the public (plus a little bit of hate, as usual). This feature represented a significant and noticeable pushback against the government’s oppressive leanings. It was and remains a symbol of the ATA’s longtime support for vulnerable students.
