The Alberta Partners for Arts and Culture is a coalition comprised of Alberta’s eight Provincial Arts Service Organizations and four Cultural Industry Associations, including the Alberta Craft Council, Alberta Dance Alliance, Alberta Magazine Publishers Association, Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society, Alberta Media Production Industries Association, Alberta Music, Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta, Book Publishers Association of Alberta, Regroupment artistique francophone de l’Alberta, Theatre Alberta, Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC and Writers’ Guild of Alberta.

L’Association québécoise des éditeurs de magazines regroupe une quarantaine d’éditeurs et plus de 100 magazines à travers le Québec. Nous couvrons de nombreux segments de l’industrie, allant de la petite maison d’édition aux plus grands éditeurs de la province.

L’industrie du magazine québécois représente un milieu d’une grande vitalité, qui reflète l’immense diversité culturelle du Québec d’aujourd’hui. Nos liens d’affaires sont multiples et nos publications rayonnent partout à travers le Québec.

Nous nous sommes donné comme mission de favoriser la poursuite de l’excellence dans le domaine de l’édition de magazines, de contribuer au développement de l’industrie du magazine – papier et numérique – et de défendre les intérêts de nos membres.

CentralWeb is a commercial web printer with our primary production facility located in Calgary Alberta. With state of the art prepress, heat set and cold set press lines, multiple bindery lines, and mail services, we are able to offer a wide range of complete print services. Since our inception in 1967, we have been committed to the success of our customers by providing high quality products and service.

As a division of Black Press Media, CentralWeb has expertise in both publishing and print enabling us to uniquely understand the needs of our customers from both perspectives. We are the only commercial heat set web printer located in Alberta and are very proud of our association with AMPA.

The Magazine Association of BC (MagsBC) was founded in 1993 to represent, connect and promote the British Columbia magazine industry.

Our membership and affiliate base consists of publishers, editors, writers, designers, salespeople, printers and developers who work for magazine titles that range from literary and lifestyle to business and news, and are in both online and in print formats.

 

 

Magazines Canada is the national trade association representing Canadian-owned, Canadian- content consumer, cultural, specialty, professional and business media magazines. French and English member titles o er a wide range of topics including business, professional, news, politics, sports, arts and culture, leisure, lifestyle, women and youth, made available on multiple platforms. The association focuses on government a airs, services to the advertising trade, circulation marketing and the development of career skills for and the recognition of excellence among the people who work in Canada’s magazine media.

Mount Royal University’s four-year Bachelor of Communication – Journalism degree aims to develop entrepreneurial multi-media communications skills grounded in critical thinking and ethical and professional practices. Students contribute to The Calgary Journal, an award- winning community news organization that produces a multi-media website, documentaries, and six print news magazines per year. Classes blend practice and theory for a broad-based education of value for many career choices.

Our faculty members blend extensive professional experience with current media research expertise. We focus on nurturing student journalists’ abilities in a supportive environment geared toward student success. Among other program requirements, journalism students complete one paid, full-time, supervised professional work experience (12 week, 450 hour minimum), from either May – August, September – December, or January – April.

Wordfest™ beams out from Calgary, Canada in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, Treaty 7 territory. We are an entrepreneurial arts non-profit founded in 1996 as one of Canada’s leading literary festivals. Our small team’s mission (which is to connect the world’s best audiences with the world’s best authors) has evolved to include producing lively, accessible shows year-round, in addition to the fall Imaginairium Festival. Our unique (and free) Wordfest Youth program focuses on Grades 5 to 12 to fuel teen literacy, providing interactive experiences and class sets of books to thousands of students every year. We also produce Imagine On Air Audio, as well as online programming.
