Editors Canada is known for delivering high-quality training for editors and other communication professionals at every stage of their careers. After two successful webinar seasons, Editors Canada is now inviting proposals from experienced speakers for the 2018–19 season.
Editors Canada is looking for proposals from qualified editors and consultants to prepare and present webinars or programs of webinars in English and/or French. They are interested in all proposals; however, here are some specific topics to consider:
Fundamentals of editing
Managing the business side of editing (such as tax preparation, financial planning, billing, insurance)
Managing people or projects
Estimating and quoting
Negotiating contract terms
Preparing bios, resumés and online profiles
Working with Indigenous authors and Indigenous themes, practices, and styles
Copyright and permissions
Editing for sensitivity
Editing for accessibility and UX
Editing tables, charts, and other data visualizations and graphics
Editing ESL and FSL material
Editing machine-translated text
Information design or architecture
Numeracy for editors
Proofreading digital material—practices and standards
Informational and instructional resources (e.g., style guides)
Microsoft Word templates, macros, and styles
Editors Canada webinars are informational and educational. Webinars should be 60–90 minutes in length (or longer webinars that can be broken up into shorter sessions if you would like more time for your topic). Instructors will be offered a flat fee based on webinar length, a bonus for high enrolment, and a portion of the sales of recordings.
If you have a session to present that would fit this format, complete the webinar proposal form and send it to the director of training and development at Director_Training@editors.ca no later than Friday, September 14. Please include only one webinar proposal per form.
