Special Measures for Journalism Applications Open

The Department of Canadian Heritage is now accepting applications for the Special Measures for Journalism component through its Canada Periodical Fund.

Applications are due July 21, 2023. 

The Special Measures for Journalism component of the Canada Periodical Fund provides financial support to Canadian print magazines and digital periodicals, to enable them to overcome market disadvantages. The Fund ensures Canadians have access to diverse Canadian editorial content in printed magazines, printed community newspapers and digital periodicals.

Publications receiving grant funding through Aid to Publishers are not eligible, but digital and small and free circulation print mags are eligible as long as they generate revenue.

The service standard from receipt of an application to a funding decision is 16 weeks.

Applications submitted through the online portal will receive an automated acknowledgement of receipt email at the time of submission.
