On May 1, 2019, the National Magazine Awards Foundation unveiled their list of 201 finalists. Submissions came from 187 Canadian magazines – English and French, print and digital. AMPA congratulates all finalists, with special congratulations to AMPA Member finalists and creators hailing from the province of Alberta.
Alberta Views placed in the Issue Grand Prix category and the Feature Writing category for “Reducing the Harm” by Christina Frangou (a two-time gold winner at the 2019 Alberta Magazine Awards!).
Eighteen Bridges placed in the Fiction category for “The Curse” by Lisa Moore, which won gold at the 2019 Alberta Magazine Awards, and in the Essay category for “Have You Heard?” by Bruce Grierson.
New Trail placed in the Art Direction of a Single Article category for “The How-To Issue: Better Living Through Research”, a stand-out issue which won numerous awards at the 2019 AMAs.
Congratulations as well to Tom Babin and Omar Mouallem – both Albertan writers with shortlisted pieces published in Canadian Cycling Magazine and Title Magazine respectively.
