Date: 2nd December 2022
The Department of Canadian Heritage launched a questionnaire on November 16th with the aim of collecting ideas for the establishment of the Changing Narrative Fund (CNF). The questionnaire is available online until December 16, 2022.
The CNF seeks to break down systemic barriers in the media and cultural sectors and help Indigenous, racialized, and religious minority journalists, creators, and organizations have their experiences and perspectives better represented. Budget 2022 announced $5 million in 2023-2024 to launch the CNF. The implementation of the Fund is an opportunity for the Government of Canada to make meaningful change towards advancing anti-racism, equity, and diversity and inclusion within the media and cultural sectors.
Canadian Heritage is conducting targeted consultations with community representatives from the media and cultural sectors and has launched this questionnaire to seek further input from Canadians on the implementation of the CNF.
