Canada Post Begins Rotating Strikes in Victoria, Edmonton, Windsor and Halifax

Date: 22nd October 2018

From Magazines Canada News Release

On October 21, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) gave notice that they would hold rotating strikes in Victoria, Edmonton, Windsor and Halifax beginning Monday, October 22, and lasting 24 hours. In these areas, mail and parcels will not be delivered or picked up today.

Canada Post continues to operate across Canada, and is accepting and delivering mail and parcels in all other locations.

Rotating legal strikes are isolated to specific locations at a time, affecting those areas for a period of 24 hours. Once the temporary service disruption ends, Canada Post will return to normal operations in the affected locations.

Canada Post will share any new developments on service disruptions and the strike at canadapost.ca/web/en/comm/list.page, where you can also register for regular updates by email. They will also post information on Twitter @canadapostcorp.

Magazines Canada is in contact with Canada Post, the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Department of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour to make them aware of the consequences and grave impact this strike is having on our members. We are also examining potential alternative delivery models.
