Where Calgary provides timely, accurate information to discerning visitors, helping them make the most of their stay. Where editors regularly scour the city to provide readers with the most up-to-date information on where to eat, where to visit and where to shop. Where Calgary is part of an international group of magazines dating back to 1936. Where’s Canadian presence includes editions in Victoria, Vancouver, Whistler, the Canadian Rockies, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax.
Where Calgary is looking for an editorial intern to join our team. This is a full-time contract position for a current student or recent grad with the interest and skill to be a part of the magazine publishing industry. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Duties will include researching, writing, fact-checking, copy-editing, blogging, using social media, attending events and more. This is a paid, three-month internship for 35 hours per week, with flexible start and end dates.
Must be a current student or recent grad (2016 or later graduation date) of a post-secondary program in journalism, communications, English or a related field.
Able to write engaging, upbeat articles for print.
Able to edit and proofread accurately and efficiently.
Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WordPress.
Interested in Canadian tourism, events, dining, art, travel and shopping.
Must not have participated in an Alberta Magazine Publishers Association internship before.
