RedPoint Media Group is seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing. While we believe this is a full-time role, we have flexibility for the right candidate.

RedPoint Media Group Inc. is an award-winning digital and print publisher and content studio based in Calgary. Job Description

The RedPoint Director of Sales is responsible for revenue generation across the company including Avenue advertising (across all platforms), RedPoint contract publishing and RedPoint contract advertising.

The Director of Sales will work as part of the leadership team to develop products and business strategies that create revenue and lead to the profitable operation of the company. This role will be an instrumental part of the team leading the transition of the company, helping to create new sustainable business models and pathways to growth.

It is the responsibility of the Director of Sales & Marketing to create a sales structure that provides both account coverage and proactive sales efforts within the relevant marketing universe and ensure the financial success of all company initiatives.

The Director of Sales will operate as a player/coach in the area of contract publishing, leveraging the resources of the main Avenue sales and editorial teams while taking personal ownership of developing new contract relationships.

The Director will:

  • direct the strategic priorities, direction and materials to support company revenue generating efforts across all divisions while tracking and reporting individual project results as well as overall achievement.
  • manage and support the individual sellers in their efforts to attain their personal revenue goals while providing motivation, training and product knowledge to maximize their efforts.
  • implement a system of reviews and evaluations to provide feedback on performance including areas of strength and those that require additional support.
  • ensure that all sales department employees operate in accordance with the guidelines of RedPoint Media’s Code of Conduct.
  • oversee and work to direct improvements in the creation of all sales resource materials including media kits, sales packages, integrated tools and competitive tools.
  • collaborate with other department heads to create effective business practice and conflict resolution while creating a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
  • optimize use of the CRM system for operational effectiveness and business continuity.
  • operate within the confines of operational budgets.


The RedPoint Director of Sales & Marketing has a passion for connecting clients and audiences across multiple platforms. You have extensive experience in sales and sales management within the media industry or a related field, most likely 10-plus years.

You are an optimistic team player — someone who thrives on the success of the team, bringing high energy and a sense of humour to your job. You have a demonstrated ability to collaborate easily with team members across various departments, bringing out the best in others and building on their ideas to help the whole team succeed.

You are entrepreneurially minded, driven by growth and change and eager to work with an established team that is ready to transition into new business areas. You are digitally savvy with a strong understanding of the tools and terminology of digital advertising along with the ability to read and understand data as a business tool and as a marketable entity. You stay on top of digital trends and are excited to see what comes next. You possess a high level of analytical acumen to understand, forecast and manage company financial reporting and manage departmental budgets.

You have a strong marketing orientation and experience leading marketing programs and building sponsorship opportunities while creating tools and materials to support market awareness and build business prospects.

You have strong relationship skills in order to leverage current networks and contacts within the Calgary market and build new ones. You are an engaging public speaker both for internal motivation and external leadership and presentation opportunities.

You have a strong track record of building and leading successful sales organizations including:

  • Hiring successful sellers and creating a team-oriented environment
  • Training and developing the team for critical skills – prospecting, presenting, negotiation and closing
  • Retaining quality sales talent using a system of feedback and reviews
  • Creating accountability by building and tracking S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound)
  • Building successful strategies and priorities to maximize team effectiveness
  • Contributing to business growth and product development
