Event Description

Join the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association on Tuesday, Oct. 16 (Calgary) and Wednesday, Oct. 17 (Edmonton) for the workshop “Creating and promoting great podcasts” presented by Sarah Hoyles.

Using a mix of theory, case studies and hands on experimentation, this full-day workshop will teach you the basics of how to create and edit podcasts and get them in front of your audience.

We’ll cover:

  • What makes a good podcast, from conceptualization to frequency and branding
  • The focus statement and scripting
  • Audio gathering and equipment
  • Editing and uploading
  • Distribution and promotion

Sarah Hoyles

Sarah Hoyles has been working in broadcast journalism and podcasting for more than a decade. She’s spent that time at as a producer and host at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as well as at the Alberta-wide public radio network, CKUA. Now she develops and produces branded podcasts, content and communications for a variety of clients.
