If you love storytelling, and understanding what draws a photographer to their subject, The Photo Inspiration event will capture your eye. Shooters, newbies, and appreciators of the medium, get ready for an all-Canadian, lineup of photography folks sharing the stories behind their work in quick-fire Pecha Kucha style. Known as the art of concise presentations, each speaker has just 20 seconds to talk through each of their 20 images.

Adam Borman – Studio photographer/ recent NAIT graduate. A commercial photographer on the rise.
Chantelle Bowman – Lifestyle photographer/ recent NAIT graduate. A country gal with a passion for the prairies.
Alexis Marie Chute – Artist// InFocus Photo curator. An artist of many hats, Alexis shares her passion for photography.
Pieter De Vos – Documentary photographer. Pieter will be sharing images from his soon to be released monograph documenting life in Woodlane Village, a squatter camp in the wealthy suburb of Moreleta Park in Pretoria, South Africa. The book will be released in April to correspond with the 25 year anniversary of the first open elections, and the abolishment of apartheid in South Africa. Images from this project have been recognized by the News Photographers Association of Canada, in the 2018 National Pictures of the Year awards competition.
Rita Godlevskis – PhotoED Magazine Editor. Rita shares the highs and lows of working on a Canadian independent print based publication, focused on showcasing Canadian photography in a brand new light.
Blake Loates – Photographer/ Mental health advocate.
Sanja Lukac – SEITIES Editor/ Artist. Executive Director of the SEITIES Gallery + publication, Sanja works to create an international showcase of contemporary photo-based work using historical and traditional techniques, based in Calgary.
Ryan Parker – Photographer/ Actor. Voted Edmonton’s Best Photographer in 2018 in the Vue Weekly ‘Best of Edmonton Awards’, Ryan’s adventures span across a range of creative genres. From acting Off-Broadway in New York City to shooting in his studio in Edmonton, Ryan’s experiences as a photographer, actor, writer, musician, teacher, husband and a father, will surely inspire!
Tim Starchuck – Photographic Artist. Tim Starchuk draws inspiration from travel, minimalism, personal reflection and luminosity.
Marlena Wyman – Artist/ Archivist/ Edmonton’s Historian Laureate. Following an extensive career as an Archivist, Marlena now works as a visual artist. Through her work as an archivist, Marlena found that one of the significant gaps in archival collections is that of women’s stories. In particular, the voice of early prairie women is largely excluded from mainstream history. As an artist, she honours these women’s considerable and important contributions to Canadian photo history. Marlena will be speaking at the PhotoED event with focus on the work/ archive of early pioneer photographer GLADYS REEVES.
