You’ve got a great story. Now you need a headline that makes someone actually read it.

In this hour, Tara Cox (Real Simple, Rachael Ray Every Day, Men’s Journal, Popular Mechanics) walks us through some of the most engaging and visually arresting opening spreads she’s seen.

We’ll look at what works, what doesn’t, and why. And we’ll have some fun doing it.

You’ll walk away with:

  • The principles of how heds and deks function and how to make them more engaging
  • How display copy and design have evolved
  • How print display differs from digital headlines and why

Who should attend:

Editors and writers — sharpen your instincts for good display copy and get some tips on how to generate ideas

Art directors – enhance the interplay between the text and visuals on your features and get playful without obscuring meaning

Everyone with an interest and knack for heds and deks is welcome!
