Charity Village Course: IDEA Fundamentals

This module introduces core concepts and principles to help you establish foundational knowledge of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). You will develop a clear baseline for further understanding of topics of diversity and inclusion. You will also explore the benefits of creating an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplace and society. Through self-reflection activities, practical examples, and case studies, you will start your IDEA journey on the path to self-awareness and inclusion. 

This module is designed to get everyone on the same page when it comes to diversity and inclusion. By leveraging the experience of participants, we explore our own dimensions of diversity and the benefits of creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. 

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate between representation and diversity, and between equity, equality, and inclusion. 
  • Understand how your own dimensions of diversity impact your worldview and workplace behaviours. 
  • Reflect on diversity in Canada compared to diversity in the labour force. 
  • Describe the business case for developing a work culture that values diversity and is inclusive of all.

This course is on-demand, meaning that you can take it anytime, at your own pace. The course will take approximately 30 minutes to complete from start to finish. You have one year (365 days) to complete the course from the date of purchase before it will automatically expire in your account.
