Magazine teams are being pushed to understand AI at the exact moment their organizations are already stretched across editorial, audience, revenue, operations, and trust. This webinar will give publishers, editors, and creative leaders a practical, human-centred way to think about AI adoption: not as a replacement for editorial judgment or creative voice, but as a set of tools that can help small teams reclaim time, strengthen workflows, and build new forms of community and reader value.

Drawing from his work as a photographer, publisher, community builder, and AI ecosystem organizer, Kris Krüg will cover how media organizations can use AI responsibly across research, ideation, editing workflows, audience engagement, knowledge capture, event programming, and internal operations, while staying alert to the real risks around provenance, consent, bias, quality, and trust.

Attendees will leave with actionable strategies, real-world examples, and a framework for evaluating AI tools beyond the hype.

This program is made available with support from the Governments of Canada and Alberta.

Webinars are held via Venuelive – a Canadian based tech company for online events. For those who use Closed Captioning, Venue is compatible with Chrome CC features. For more information on how to set-up and use Chrome CC, visit their help page.

Speaker & Host

Kris Krüg is a photographer, creative technologist, community builder, speaker, and field-note person for the weird edge where humans meet the machines they keep inventing.

Krüg has spent two decades documenting technology, art, activism, conferences, communities, and the back rooms where culture actually changes. These days, most of that work points at one question: how do we use AI to increase human capacity instead of flattening human judgment?

His current projects include leadership of the BC + AI Ecosystem Association, a member-supported nonprofit building practical, responsible AI capacity in British Columbia and the Futureproof Festival, taking place October 2026 in Vancouver.
