On the Powwow Trail

When it came time to work on WestJet Magazine’s “On the Powwow Trail” (June, 2018), we felt the only person who could tell the story was an Indigenous writer, who could offer personal insight into the meaning and emotions associated with these traditional gatherings. Editor Diane Bolt worked closely with writer Nahnda Garlow throughout the editing process to ensure Garlow’s voice and style remained intact. We also took the step of having parts of the feature reviewed by a member of the Indigenous community to ensure accuracy
