Economy 150

Publication: UAlberta Business

One hundred and fifty years ago, on what we now call Canada Day, four provinces—Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia—formed the Dominion of Canada. Nearly 3.5 million Canadians, including about 135,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit people, lived on this land and navigated an economy that looked dramatically different than the one we know today. UAlberta Business takes a look at how Canada’s economy has matured and diversified since the first Confederation Day.
